i'm guessing it's a hot topic in many homes across the country (and probably the world). i've never realized how many of "these people" there are...but i found a couple at work, my runner partners wife is one, AND now I live with one!
ever since I was a kid, one of my favorite things about Christmas was decorating the tree. Blaring the Mariah Carey Christmas CD..."all I want for Christmas is yooou, yooou-e-ou baby!" and all of us packing the tree with tons of ornaments...ornaments of all kinds (even those insane ugly ones that we made over years and years of sunday school classes and elementary school projects). It's funny, too, because in elementary school, every year around Christmas time we had a craft fair where we could buy all sorts of little crafts for really cheap. So, my brother and I would always buy my mom ornaments for her Christmas present...so add those to the bunch too=).
Then, in high school, my mom started to buy my brother and I a couple ornaments each year, so we could start to accumulate our own collections for when we had a Christmas tree of our own. BRILLIANT, Kim, just BRILLIANT.
or, so I thought until this Christmas...
All of my Christmas tree decorating joy was ripped out my heart this year because my roommate is one of "these people"...
"these people" are anal about how their Christmas tree looks. Everything needs to be perfect. ALL ornaments have to MATCH and look classy. The lights HAVE to be white and coordinate with the mix. The garland has to be posh and perfectly hung. Come on people! Christmas is not about classy and stuffy trees...it's about love and joy and having fun decorating. Give me crazy lights, give me popcorn and berries, give me loud, obnoxious, and wonderful ornaments. Give me all of it because all of it is spirit and love and joy and fun...which is all apart of this fabulous holiday.
So, MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, and may your trees not match!
Who ripped out who's heart Boldon? Remember when I dragged that poor tree onto the top of the car all by myself?? Yes, I like things to match and look like a unified composition - expressing the glory of the artist that I am. I personally think this tree was the highlight of my career - defining who I am as a artist and everything that christmas represents to me. Shame on you for the knick knacks you tried to put on my tree. Shame on you for wanting colored lights. Shame, Shame, Shame.
