Drink it up...

TEA! It's a new "like" not quite love of mine, but I'm enjoying it more and more each day...

Honestly, I don't know that much about it, but one tiny mug full is fantastic for your heath! My drink of choice is Tension Tamer by Celestial Seasonings...it's yummy, and so cheap - woo!  I really don't know if it tames my tension or even if my tension needs to be tamed, but I love the taste.  I also just love drinking hot things - especially when it's freezing outside!

Plus, so many options are caffeine-free, bu-yah to that because i'm a diet soda feign come late afternoon.

So drink it up fools - it's good for you=)

Restaurant.com

So, anyone who knows me understands that it's so hard for me to be frugal...so, i'm not a big resolution person, but 2008 is the year of trying to pay off debt and reduce the amount of splurges and impulsive shopping (i need to start giving myself a time limit at target)...

BUT, the good news is, one of my favorite things does not need to be laid to rest this year.  I heart going out to eat and trying new restaurants.  Restaurant.com has become my friend.  They offer $25 gift certs for $10, but I rarely even spend the $10...if you join their e-mail list they send out promos for 30%-70% off...OH yes, I've scored many $25 gift certs for only $3.  Kenosha restaurants are very limited in participation (with exception of the Wine Knot - yeah!)...but there are many participating restaurants in the Milwaukee area and I'm so excited to check them out.

Here's the link:

Sentry on Hwy 31? I'd rather starve

So, last night 1.6.07, I stop at Sentry to pick up a pizza and salad for dinner and a couple extra necessities (an apple a day...).  I walk into the produce section, and honestly I was horrified...it was the most bare, desolate, depressing produce I had every seen.  Gosh, I already started to miss the former Jewel Osco.  I tried to look past this as I went go pick out salad...and HORRIBLE selection...then I thought, I'll go plain with the salad and just add a bunch of veggies to it...ok, I look at the veggies and I put back my 2 apples and removed myself from this store...with a secret vow NEVER TO RETURN!

Uggh, thank God for the wonderful Pick 'n Save on Hwy 50 where I customized my very own salad with all the fixin's for only $1.80 and picked up a wonderful Greek pizza!  And, of course, my fav stop at this Pick is the bulk bins!!!! Woo-hoo!  It's wrong, I know, but I always take a little snacky poo of the best looking mix - YUM.  And I also buy, so don't give me that look!

I just look at where I started my dinner search - at the sorry Sentry and where I ended up..at the Pick n' Save of perfection.  Props to the Pick!

Hunt for the "A list" breakfast diner...

So, I've been learning that Ktown is a hub full of diner options for breakfast...and who doesn't love a big weekend breakie?  Sipping the coffee (and water and OJ in my case), reading the paper, and indulging in a beloved omlet?

Rating scale:  1-5 eggs (5 eggs = highest rating)

My stops in Ktown so far:

  1. Danny's Cafe  rating = 4.5 eggs

It was my first stop on the tour and I can't just hand out eggs like candy, but I LOVED DANNY'S!!  You definitely feel like a regular, even if it's your first time.  It very small and tight, but homey and welcoming.  And the food - hello!  it rocked.  I had a veggie omelet, hashbrowns and toast.  I think it was the best omelet I've ever had - no joke (i mean who jokes around when it comes to a good omelet).

2.  Gateway Cafe  rating = 2.0 eggs

Honestly - I was disappointed.  And word on the street is that this is a hoppin' joint, even a fav of Kenoshians...I had a feta and spinach omelet.  It was was overdone...ruined my experience=(  My hot bf had a skillet and was a huge fan so I can be to harsh, but I was just not impressed.  Maybe I'm biased because of my AMAZING experience at Danny's, but come on...after all the buzz...I wasn't even close to being impressed.  Next please!
